Writing Fix: Creepy Crawly Sentences

Curated by ACT

In this instructional activity, the picture book entitled Toad, written by Ruth Brown, is used as the mentor text. Students will record their favorite adjectives from the mentor text, rank them according to their favorite, and share them. Students will also use interactive buttons to generate noun, adjective, verb phrase, and prepositional phrase combinations that they enjoy most. Then students must use this newly generated sentence and "hide it" in the context of a previously-written longer piece. [Requires Adobe Reader.]
