Lesson Plan

Writing Fix: If You Give a Student an Animal

Curated by ACT

In this lesson plan, the book If You Give a Moose a Muffin, written by Laura Numeroff, is used as a mentor text for word choice. The content focus of the lesson is to teach the young scholars to take ownership of scientific and descriptive words. Each student will choose an animal, name a trait about the animal, and then incorporate the information into a sentence frame. Finally students will publish the content, along with an illustration to accompany the content of the sentence.
