Students identify the theme of "The Monkey's Paw" and relate it to prior knowledge.  For this "The Monkey's Paw" lesson, students discuss fate and coincidence and debate which one controls destiny.  A test is chosen as the winner based on the points made during the debate.  Students then decide whether fate or coincidence rules over the main character's life in the story.
