A learning module on the significance of a declaration of independence by a country. It includes several supporting questions accompanied by formative tasks and source materials, followed by a summative performance task. Students will examine the ideas stated in the Declaration of Independence, what prompted the colonists to rebel against the British monarchy, and how the Declaration of Independence presents the case for independence. They will then research the declarations of independence made in other countries of the Western Hemisphere. The module can be downloaded in PDF or DOC format.
