Connect algebra and geometry on the coordinate plane. The eighth unit in a nine-part integrated course has pupils develop the distance formula from the Pythagorean Theorem. Scholars prove geometric theorems using coordinates including the relationships between the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. Learners also investigate translations of the graph of functions and their related equations.

Instructional Ideas
- Provide several opportunities for the class to make a conceptual connection between the Pythagorean Theorem and the distance formula
Classroom Considerations
- Pupils should be familiar with determining slope
- The practice set contains problems with previously learned concepts
Pros
- Provides suggestions on what to do during each phase of the teaching cycle
- Comes as an honors and Spanish version
Cons
- None
