Students examine historical information about the development of barbed wire and practice identifying geometric terms. After reading through background information, they participate in several activities that include making calculations for a 10-acre square pasture, examining barbed wire, composing letters to companies that market or design barbed wire, and researching fencing of the West and the feelings and attitudes associated with it.
