What is the relationship among the heart, circulation, and exercise? Your class members will explore first-hand how different physical exercises affect an individual's heart rate. They will begin by learning how to measure their own heart rate, and then working individually or in partners, will analyze the effect of such activities as breathing deeply, doing jumping jacks, and listening to fast music. Finally, your young scientists will learn about the relationship between the body's need for more oxygen during physical activity and the heart's effort to deliver that oxygen.
This is the third resource in a series of fitness and physical activity lessons.
