Find eleven lesson plans developed in conjunction with the PBS documentary "The New Americans," which explores what it means to be a new Americans in the twenty-first century. Lessons touch on topics associated with recently arrived immigrants but also digs into the history of immigration in America. Immigration policy, scientific and artistic contributions of immigrants, cross-cultural diffusion, Ellis Island experiences, and changing U.S. demographics owing to immigration are all considered. Some lessons require in-class viewing of the documentary but many helpful resources requiring only Internet access are available at the documentary's companion site.
