[Free Registration/Login Required] Students reading primary source documents to solve a problem surrounding a historical question. This inquiry lesson allows students to explore the social and economic factors that fueled the wave of Chinese immigrants as well as the factors that eventually led to their exclusion. Students examine an excerpt from an anti-Chinese play, a political cartoon, an anti-Chinese labor speech, and an immigrant's autobiography.
