Working Watermelon

You're going to wish you had a watermelon for this lesson! Class members read about watermelons and make a salad in class to sample. They also perform estimates, measurements and calculations on a watermelon. They predict what percentage of the watermelon is edible and write their predictions on the chalkboard, later weighing the melon on a bathroom scale and recording the results. There are many standards listed; you might have trouble meeting all of them with the included activities.
