CORE Math Performance Assessment Modules: Grade 5

Collector: Ann V.

A set of CORE math assessments for fifth graders begins with a three-part task that checks pupils' ability to find the product of fractions and whole numbers, mixed numbers, or fractions. For other assessments, learners show their proficiency in adding and subtracting fractions using several scenarios involving cats and demonstrate their skill at adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Young scholars also use their knowledge of fractions to solve problems dealing with splitting up workloads evenly between three groups, solve several items that involve finding sums of fractions to a whole, and demonstrate they can calculate with decimals. The last assessments in the series require scholars to graph data, determine the number of cookies they could make based on a given amount of ingredients, and work with decimals. Assessments are aligned to both the Common Core State Standards and the SMARTER Balanced assessment specifications. They can be used as diagnostic pre-assessments, mid-instruction formative assessments, or mini- summative benchmark assessments.
