How can you complete a simulation when it is not practical to determine the probability of an event? Class members learn that in some situations, it is not feasible to find the probability of an event, but they can estimate it by running a simulation. The pupils learn the five steps to a simulation and incorporate them in the process of estimating probabilities.

Instructional Ideas
- Brainstorm different scenarios that would require a simulation to estimate probabilities
- Come up with a list of simulations learners can use and determine the probabilities they can simulate
Classroom Considerations
- Depending upon the time it takes to run the simulations, the lesson may last longer
- 10th segment in a series of 25
Pros
- Includes both problems where students must conduct simulations and problems where the simulation is already done
- Contains an exit ticket to check for understanding
Cons
- None
