Based off of the hit television show NUMB3RS, this lesson uses students' knowledge of graph theory (networks) to introduce two measures of centrality (how connected a particular node is to the entire network), known as degree centrality and closeness centrality. The lesson is framed in the context of a series of killings within a gang, with the goal of trying to decide who will be killed next (based on centrality). Although there is no difficult math in this lesson, introductory knowledge of graph theory is needed.
